When you truly love yourself, you start looking for ways to glow from the inside out. While skincare routines, makeup, and dressing up are all great forms of self-care (which I still love, of course), there’s something transformative about nourishing your body from within. Here are my top 10 favorite healthy habits to glow from within. I hope this helps you in any way! 💖
1. Hydrate with Magnesium-Rich Water
We all know hydration is key when it comes to glowing skin and overall well-being, but not all water is created equal. While filtered water removes toxins, it often lacks the essential minerals your body craves. That’s why I swear by magnesium-rich water, especially magnesium bicarbonate, a bioavailable form of magnesium that supports over 300 enzymatic processes in the body. Many of us are magnesium-deficient these days because our soil isn’t as nutrient-rich as it used to be, making it harder to get enough from food alone.
Just a few of the many benefits of consuming magnesium-rich water:
- Enhanced Hydration 💧
Magnesium helps your body retain water, keeping you properly hydrated throughout the day. - Better Sleep 😴
Magnesium promotes relaxation, helping you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. - Muscle Relief 🏋️♀️
It reduces muscle cramps and spasms, supporting physical comfort and recovery. - Improved Digestion 🍽️
Magnesium aids in digestion and helps prevent constipation, keeping your gut happy. - Reduced Stress 🧘♀️
With its calming effect on the nervous system, magnesium can help lower anxiety and stress levels.
Here’s how you can make it at home:
- Add ¼ to ½ tsp of food-grade magnesium hydroxide to 1L of chilled carbonated spring water.
- (The magnesium hydroxide powder I use is linked here: Magnesium Hydroxide Powder)
- Shake for a minute, let it rest in the fridge for an hour, then shake again.
- Leave it in the fridge for a few more hours or overnight, and it’s ready to use!
*Add a little of this concentrate to your filtered water jug daily, and feel the difference. It hydrates on a cellular level, supports digestion, and boosts your energy levels. You’ll be refreshed in no time.

2. Sleep is the Real Deal
I cannot stress this enough, sleep is not overrated! We hear it all the time: sleep is essential. But how often do we actually prioritize it? I’ll admit, I had a bad habit of staying up late scrolling on my phone. Trust me, late night doomscrolling is not it.
Once I started intentionally getting 7–9 hours of quality sleep, everything shifted. My skin improved, my body stopped aching, and my mind felt clear. Sleep isn’t just rest; it’s repair. I know it can be hard sometimes when it seems you do not have enough time in the day to get things done, but you’ll be surprised how your mind finds solutions when you decide to make something a priority.
Prioritize sleep, and you’ll notice everything else in life becomes more manageable.
Here’s why sleep is truly essential:
- It allows your body to repair and regenerate.
- It balances hormones, reducing stress and inflammation.
- It helps you wake up with glowing skin and sharper mental clarity.
Suggestion: Put your phone away at least an hour before bedtime to avoid late night doomscrolling. A consistent nighttime routine with calming teas or meditation can also help you wind down.
*Short naps are great too. Just keep them under 20 minutes to avoid messing with your nighttime routine.
3. Gut Health = Overall Well-Being
We often forget just how much our gut impacts our overall well-being. It is not only responsible for digestion. Your gut is linked to your mood, energy, skin, and even your immune system. When it’s out of balance, it can show up as breakouts, fatigue, or even brain fog.
On the flip side, when your gut is happy, it feels like everything just clicks. That’s why I focus on eating fiber-rich foods, staying hydrated, and incorporating probiotics into my diet. It’s all about nourishing your gut so it can support the rest of your body.
Here’s how to support your gut:
- Incorporate fermented foods like yogurt, kimchi, or sauerkraut.
- Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods like fruits, veggies, and whole grains.
- Consider a high-quality probiotic supplement to boost your microbiome.
* I love eating a variety of seasonal foods because it helps keep my gut bacteria happy and nourished with all the nutrients and fiber it craves.
Trust me, when your gut is happy, it shows on your face!
4. Liver Cleanse for Detoxification
I don’t think liver detoxification gets talked about enough! Your liver works overtime, removing toxins and waste from your body. It’s a true powerhouse, the body’s natural detox center.
As much as we’d like to be healthy, we all want to enjoy a drink or two or indulge in foods that aren’t exactly great for us from time to time. And that’s okay! You can still support your little liver to help keep it running strong.
How to show love to your liver:
- Stay Hydrated 💧: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help flush out toxins.
- Eat Liver-Supportive Foods 🥬🍠🧄: Include leafy greens, beets, garlic, and turmeric to promote detoxification.
- Drink Dandelion Tea 🍵: Known for its liver-supporting properties, dandelion tea helps stimulate bile production.
- Limit Alcohol 🚫🍷: Reducing alcohol intake gives your liver a much-needed break.
- Incorporate Healthy Fats 🥑🐟: Foods like avocados, olive oil, and fatty fish support the detox process.
5. Vitamin C & Collagen
As we get older, our skin loses its elasticity, and collagen production slows down. To support my skin, I’ve been consuming vitamin C-rich foods like kiwis and tangerines. Vitamin C plays a crucial role in collagen production. It’s also a powerful antioxidant that aids in healing skin damage and strengthens immunity.
While skincare products promoting collagen are all the rage these days, collagen molecules are actually too large to be absorbed through the skin. That’s why I focus on consuming collagen directly to keep my skin fresh and plump. Lately, during these colder days, I’ve been making my own marshmallows with marshmallow root, grass-fed beef gelatin, and raw honey, paired with a comforting cup of hot chocolate.
You can also find plenty of collagen-rich foods like bone broth and fatty fish.
Aging is a privilege, but if you can age while still staying radiant, why not?
To sum it up:
- Eat vitamin C-rich foods like oranges, kiwis, and strawberries. Vitamin C is essential for collagen synthesis.
- Incorporate collagen-rich foods like bone broth and grass-fed gelatin into your diet as collagen production slows down when we age.
- (The grass-fed gelatin powder I use is linked here: Grassfed Beef Gelatin)
(Current obsession: Making my own marshmallows using marshmallow root, grass-fed beef gelatin, and raw honey, delicious and skin-friendly!)
*Collagen is the secret to radiant, youthful skin, and incorporating it into your diet is a game-changer.

6. Move Your Body, Your Way
Yes, I’m sorry, but I have to put this in here. As someone who’s done everything from weightlifting in the gym to kickboxing and now loves at-home workouts, I’m telling you, just do what you love when it comes to exercising. You don’t have to kill yourself in the gym. Seriously. I used to believe that if you didn’t sweat, it wasn’t a good workout. I WAS SO WRONG.
Whether you love weightlifting, pilates, yoga, hiking, or anything else, the possibilities are endless. Just do it! Do what you love, but keep moving. Don’t stay stagnant. I love my daily 15-minute walks outside in the morning sun. I still love lifting weights. Pilates for 20 minutes? Absolutely. Your body will thank you for taking care of it. You can’t hate your body into being “healthy.” Love yourself now, in every shape and perfect curve. Your body fights every day to keep you alive.
Here are some fun, sustainable ways to stay active:
- Morning walks in the sunlight (get your daily dose of vitamin D!) 🌞
- At-home pilates or yoga sessions 🧘♀️
- Dancing around your living room 💃
- Weightlifting or kickboxing if you love something more intense 🏋️♀️ 🥊
- Walking after meals 🚶♀️
*Find an activity you enjoy, and remember, movement is a celebration of what your body can do, not a punishment.
7. Lymphatic Drainage for Detox and Glow
The body’s lymphatic system is a key part of the immune system, responsible for protecting us from infections. Lymphatic drainage is often overlooked but is a highly effective way to detox your body and boost your immunity. It helps the lymphatic system flush out waste and toxins, reducing puffiness and promoting clear, healthy skin.
To kick it up a notch, I’ve invested in a vibration plate that helps with lymphatic drainage. I’ve noticed a difference in my body using it daily. It has reduced my water retention, minimized bloating, and enhanced circulation. (To read more about what a vibration plate is, click here: Vibration Plate for Lymphatic Drainage)
Here’s how you can incorporate lymphatic drainage:
- Use a dry brush before showering to stimulate lymph flow. (A dry brush like this: POPCHOSE Dry Brushing Body Brush)
- Practice facial gua sha or use a jade roller to reduce puffiness. (I use this: Sacheu Stainless Steel Gua Sha)
- Try a lymphatic drainage massage for a deeper cleanse.
- For the lazy girl (like me), I use a vibration plate for 15 minutes days. (This is the one I use: Lifepro Waver Vibration Plate)
8. Soak Up the Sun (Responsibly) + Red Light Therapy
Daily sunlight exposure, especially during sunrise or sunset, can do wonders for your mood, energy, and skin. Sunlight helps regulate your circadian rhythm, supports vitamin D production, and boosts your overall glow. Aim to get at least 30 minutes of sun daily! While these benefits are incredible, don’t forget to wear your SPF to prevent overexposure. It’s all about balance.
Have you heard of red light therapy? Red light therapy is like a secret weapon for glowing from within. It works wonders by boosting collagen production, reducing inflammation, and promoting faster skin healing, giving you that fresh, radiant look.
But it’s not just about the skin! It helps with muscle recovery, supports energy levels, and even improves sleep. Whether you’re recovering from a workout or just want to feel more energized and balanced, red light therapy is worth the investment. If you’re not already doing this, get on it! 🌟✨
(I have two red light panels: Hooga PRO300 and Hooga HG500)

9. Meditation: The Mind-Body Connection
Meditation is like pressing the reset button for your entire being. When you take a few minutes to sit, breathe deeply, and clear your mind, you’re giving yourself the gift of peace and space. It helps reduce stress, calm your nervous system, and sharpen mental clarity. By lowering cortisol levels, you create a solid foundation for balance and well-being.
That quiet time allows you to tap into calm and focus, helping you feel grounded and centered, ready to face whatever comes your way. Meditation isn’t just something you do; it’s a self-care practice that nurtures a vibrant, energized you from the inside out. I get it, this might be one of the hardest habits to do daily, but in my experience, it is the most profound.
A few minutes of daily meditation can:
- Reduce stress and cortisol levels.
- Improve your mood and mental clarity.
- Help you cultivate a deeper sense of self-love and acceptance.
*If you’re new to meditation, start with short guided meditations found on YouTube. Even as short as five minutes.
10. Gratitude & Positive Self-Talk
Your mindset has a huge impact on how you feel and how you glow. Practicing gratitude shifts your focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant, boosting your mood, reducing stress, and improving mental health. Simply writing down three things you’re grateful for each day can create lasting changes in your perspective.
Positive affirmations also work wonders for building confidence and radiance. The way you speak to yourself shapes your energy. Replace negative self-talk with affirmations that remind you of your worth. Try repeating:
- “I am perfect as I am, inside and out.”
- “I nourish my body with love.”
- “I am worthy of all I desire”
*When you treat yourself with kindness and gratitude, you radiate that energy outward. It’s all about embracing your inner light. 💖
By adopting these 10 healthy habits to glow from within, you’re creating a foundation for long-lasting health, beauty, and happiness. Remember, feeling good is about honoring your body, mind, and soul. Start with one habit at a time.
